Chi can be translated to mean ‘life force’, energy, or a vital power that flows within us and influences our health, and mental abilities. Elk Studios have attempted to tap into this metaphysical force with their recent Chi slot, which draws on these concepts.

Asian themed slots certainly are popular at the moment. Perhaps the current push is driven by the growing gambling market in China or the sheer wealth of inspiration that can be extracted from the culture. Chi Slot Machine Bonus Features

The elements of wind and fire come alive through two cartoon cats called Chi and Mow. You will notice two spinners on the side of the reels. When the pattern on them lines up, then their corresponding spirit is incarnated.

When Chi, the fire spirit, shows up he awards the player with 1-6 wilds. If this occurs during free spins, then these wilds become sticky. Mow is the wind spirit. This helpful guy turns up now and then to bang his gong and award multipliers from x2 to x5. During free spins, the multipliers are progressive and increase by 1 up to a maximum of x5.

Pay symbols are all original and pretty looking but are quite low value. Three of a kind is required to pay a prize, and they range in value from 0.25x to 2.5x the stake for the four lowest. The top four are worth from 1x to 10x the stake, so not a whole lot to get excited about when they land on their own. Fortunately, multipliers land regularly to boost this total and help up the ante.

Three more symbols have been included to create extra profit. The first is the wild symbol which gets dished out by Chi or which can land randomly. It can be substituted for all symbols bar the free spins and bonus symbol.

The Yin and Yang symbol, cleverly designed using black and white fish, is the bonus symbol. Three of these trigger the Stairway to Fortune feature and is one of the keys to winning big on Chi slot.

During this feature, our pals Chi and Mow return to help the player move up the stairway to the jackpot. Chi picks a random number from 1 to 6 and Mow moves up steps of ascending multipliers towards the Fortune Reels.

If Chi uncovers the Collect, then whatever multiplier Mow is on comes into play to calculate the win, and the round is over. However, if the player reaches the Fortune Reels, the five reels spin and the multipliers are added together. Here is where dreams come true with the potential to receive up to 12,500x the stake.
