Dream Date Slot Game Review

Microgaming has so many games in its range, and a number of casino and gaming sites exclusively use video slots from the gaming giant. But do you want to take a chance in love on Dream Date slot, this attractive young slot that would love to sweep you off your feet?

The game is a 5-reel slot, which instead of pay-lines features 243 ways to win. Staking runs from a few pence to £60, and the top payout of the lot is 108,000 coins. Like most Microgaming games, Dream Date slot machine can be played on your desktop computer or in your hand-held device.

Pretty as a picture?

Dream Date slot is all about choice, and the game offers an unusual choice, to begin with, asking players if they’d like to play in the “modern era” or a “historic era”, as typified by two dating ladies inappropriate costumes.

The look of the game is unusual, and probably not its strongest suit. Unusually, the game is aimed squarely at women? The two main characters are archetypal beautiful women, and the story-line has them dating the ideal men from their era.

From the company that gave us big movie tie-ins like Jurassic Park, the game looks disappointing. Maybe the graphics are supposed to evoke romance novel covers, but you get the feeling that the Microgaming team don’t quite know how to get their heads around designing a game for women – but then, this review is written by a man, so maybe we’re missing the point!

Love is a losing game

What about the game though? That’s certainly unisex and should appeal to all sorts of players. As part of the setting choice process you go through at the start of the game, you can choose your own dream date, who will become the biggest paying symbol: he will reward you – perhaps with every lasting love – but certainly with 25 times your stake for a 5-strong full house.

More valuable than the most handsome man you can imagine is the wild, a heart of course, which pays out 50 times stake for a full house.

The special features include the Hot Zones game. This is a randomly triggered booster that appears only on reels 1 and 5. If the lead character and any of the prospective dates land in the zone then there’s a 40-times pay-out.

If the Dream Date lands in the Hot Zone alongside three scatters on the reels then we are in Free Spins mode in enhanced mode.

Trigger the spins in the standard way – three scatters anywhere on the reels – and you win eight spins; do it via the Hot Zones and you can double that. During Free Spins, the Dream Date is the wild (expanding on the middle reel, with a 2-times multiplier on wins).

Dream Date slot is easy to play, and the added features add enough variation to gameplay to keep you coming back for more. Dream Date could be a great part of your gaming diet, though you’d have to overlook some not-too-clever design that just doesn’t seem to convince. If you can do that then you have all the virtues you’d expect of a Microgaming machine.
