Temperance Slot Overview

Temperance slot is a beautiful looking and sounding game with loads of things going for it, including some of the nicest design we’ve seen for a while, and one of the all-time greatest songs as the soundtrack. Old Skool Studios are the designers for a lovely online video slot released in conjunction with Microgaming.

How’s that for an intro? Well, it’s pretty well deserved. Temperance is not – as far as we can tell – particularly inspired by the 19^th-century movement to tackle heavy drinking. Instead, if we were to take a guess we’d pick out the famous French film directors Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro, who directed a couple of movie greats that have a big influence on the retro-futurist, steampunk aesthetic.

So how does that look translate from stylized French art-house cinema to slot machines? Pretty well!

The Temperance slot machine is very non-standard, but there are lots of things you’ll recognize too. It’s a 5-reel game with 20 pay lines. The male/female pairing are the two most important symbols on the reels. Mr Scuba Diver is a wild. Ms Scuba Diver is a scatter setting off the survival bonus round. Another diver in action is a second scatter. Beneath them are a set of underwater-themed symbols including a sonar screen, a helmet, some bottles, and a radio set.

Really, we can’t say enough in praise of the look of this game: everything is themed beautifully and really fits together – including the pipes and cogs that are at the center of it all. The action diver Scatter only appears on odd reels. Once you see him along with the other two scatters you’re in the Survival Bonus game. It’s basically a pick-a-price feature with five levels that you can gamble your way through.

The Ms Diver scatter triggers free spins. Three will get you 8, four will get you 12, and five is worth 20 free spins.
