Blueprint Gaming’s Diamond Mine Slot Game Review

There are plenty of reasons to dig into this Diamond Mine, not least some of the impressive numbers that Blueprint Gaming have put into the geological seams.

Six reels instead of the usual five, with an extra horizontal spinning reel adding even more options to make for up to 117,649 ways to win (you may recognize this set-up as Blueprint Gaming’s patented Megaways game engine). The theoretical return to player is 96.43% and the Diamond Mine slot game is rated at between medium and high variance. Betting is from 0.20 coins to 100 coins.

Though it’s themed around a diamond mine, this machine won’t take you to Africa, where most diamond mining takes place. Nope, really it’s another Old West-themed mining slot, complete with a bearded old geezer, picks and shovels, and a dusty mountain backdrop. The game is played to a high-speed banjo-picking soundtrack that might test the patience of some players – the mute button is easy to find.

Better even than that though is the wild, a set of dynamite sticks, which will stand in for anything other than the scatter, which we’ll return to for the feature game later on.

There are also extras on the base game. The big one is cascading wins, which sends symbols crashing down after each win, replacing the symbols that just scored until they can score no more.

Also mystery symbols, in the shape of big barrels of TNT (I’m starting to think this might not have been the safest diamond mining operation in history), which come in during the cascading wins, changing into winning symbols to ensure the wins don’t stop.

Free spins are the vein you’ll all be hoping to hit though. These are triggered by the sack of gold, which is the scatter symbol. With six reels you need to see four of these rather than the usual three, but the round starts off with a generous 12 free spins and adds five more for each scatter you see over the triggering amount.

Cascade wins still apply in this round, but this time they’ve sprinkled a multiplier on top, which goes up with each cascade. Re-triggers happen via the top reel, where scatters will set off the free spins again.

In Conclusion

While we’ve looked at a lot of extra features here, Diamond Mine slot is a relatively simple slot and doesn’t feel very sophisticated or smart in the current market. The gameplay is good and there’s a chance to win some big prizes, along with plenty of variety to keep you playing if you don’t. It’s not likely to become your new obsession, but this Diamond Mine is worth digging in to in the short term.
