When it comes to famous Chinese mythological figures, Caishen no doubt takes the cake among slot-goers with how many appearances he made in games designed for the eastern Asian market. After all, Caishen has come to represent wealth and prosperity, so RTG’s release that stars him is rather appropriately titled “God of Wealth”.
Gamblers looking to sink their teeth into the God of Wealth slot machine that offers a Wild that appears on the third reel and can replace all symbols except Scatters. Once more, all wins in the Wild are doubled.
Beyond that, three or more scatters can reward you with free spins, and each scatter can give between two to ten extra turns, so if you have three scatters, you could theoretically walk off with 30 free spins. Add a little extra from the Wilds and a progressive jackpot on top, and you have a very interesting title on your hands.
The Dragon Roars
While the basic user interface is very similar to what RTG produces nowadays, it does show a bit of age when you first take a look at it. The symbols are all draped in Chinese culture, so you will find different colored versions of the number 8 that serves as the smallest paying symbols, as well as some more unique icons such as tigers and dragons for more rewarding wins. So long as you keep your expectations level, God of Wealth won’t disappoint you on the visual front.
For gameplay, the slot takes a similar approach that most RTG releases do. The progressive jackpot ticks away in the upper right corner, providing a rather sizable win for anyone who’s lucky to get it, but for most people, the game will be all about winning those free spins and getting lucky with Wild placements.
These will no doubt be the biggest earners outside of the progressive jackpot, as thanks to how the special feature works, the winning potential is rather high, and if you successfully chain a few of them together, you could walk off with much more than you came in with.
A Golden Trophy
The bonuses involved are rather simple – Wilds that can replace other symbols except for Scatters, and three or more Scatters reward some free spins. What makes the extra turns stand out is the interaction of Wilds with other symbols – namely, once a Wild appears on the third reel while the free spins are active, the Dragon, Tiger and Ox symbols will be replaced with that same Wild, allowing gamblers to chain Wilds together for some really good wins, though it naturally takes a bit of luck. The luckiest will even be able to complete a five of a kind Wilds win, which stands out as the biggest win possible in God of Wealth.
As such, our verdict for this RTG release is no doubt a positive one. It has a fair amount of bonuses, a progressive jackpot that always makes things sweet, and, of course, that little bit of vintage charm. For us, God of Wealth slot is a good game, and we’d warmly recommend it to anyone who doesn’t mind a bit of oldish graphics getting in the way.
